Up to $28,000Up to $28,000 over four years, paid as $7,000 a year directly to the school in two instalments (September and January). Renewable until the first degree or diploma is finished, for a maximum of four years, if standards are maintained.

About this award

The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award supports students who do unpaid volunteer and humanitarian work and who have shown courage in overcoming obstacles. It is worth up to $28,000, paid as $7,000 a year for up to four years at a Canadian university or college. There is no minimum average, but students must be in good academic standing.

Who can apply

  • Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or permanent resident
  • Graduating from high school, or has completed high school and not yet finished a first degree
  • Involved in unpaid humanitarian or volunteer activities
  • In good academic standing (no minimum average)
  • Studying toward a first degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution
