$100,000 to $120,000$120,000 for engineering ($30,000 a year) or $100,000 for science, technology or math ($25,000 a year), paid by the university before each academic year. 100 awards a year across 20 partner universities.
Deadline
Jan 27, 2027January 27, 2027 is the deadline for the high school to submit its nominee. The nominated student's full application, including reference letters, is due February 17, 2027. Students must ask their guidance office to be nominated, and should ask whether the school has an earlier internal date.

About this award

Schulich Leader Scholarships fund 100 students a year entering a STEM undergraduate program at one of 20 partner universities. Each high school can nominate one graduating student, so a student must first be chosen by their school and then complete a full application. Engineering awards are $120,000 and science, technology and math awards are $100,000, paid over four years. Financial need is given strong consideration but is not required.

Who can apply

  • Graduating from high school in Canada in the 2026/2027 school year
  • Canadian citizen
  • Plans to enrol in an eligible STEM program at a partner university
  • Entrepreneurial-minded: leadership, charisma and creativity
  • Strong consideration given to students with financial need
  • Career goals in technology, engineering, entrepreneurship or applied scientific research
  • Not for students focused on activism (environmental, political or social), students who plan to become a practising physician or medical researcher (for example a doctor, dentist, nurse, psychologist, pharmacist or optometrist), or students who plan a career in academia or theoretical research
