About this award

Indspire runs a national bursary and scholarship program for First Nations, Inuit and Métis students. One application per year puts the student in the running for hundreds of bursaries, scholarships and awards for college, university, skilled trades and apprenticeship programs. Students must show financial need and provide proof of course registration, so Grade 12 students usually apply in the spring of their graduating year, using an acceptance letter as a placeholder until they register.

Who can apply

  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis student with proof of registration or enrolment under Indspire's Indigenous Registration Policy
  • Canadian citizen
  • Studying in college, university, skilled trades, apprenticeship or technology programs
  • Students studying outside Canada are eligible only if enrolled in a graduate-level program
  • Must show financial need
  • Application is intended for students with at least a 60% course load (40% with a disability-related accommodation); part-time eligibility is limited to select awards
  • Official proof of course registration is required; an acceptance letter only holds the file until registration is confirmed

What to submit

  • Online application (one per academic year covers most Indspire awards)
  • Indigenous status, Métis or Inuit enrolment card (front and back)
  • Grades from the most recent completed year
  • Official proof of post-secondary course registration (an acceptance letter can hold the file temporarily)
